Kilbroney Timber Frame Ltd has just completed this passive project in Surrey, England. A passive house is a voluntary industry standard that results in buildings which require little or no energy use for heating or cooling. They have excellent internal thermal comfort and low primary energy use. U-Values for the walls, ground floor and roof were maximum 0.15 W/(m²K). Two independent stud walls were formed in order to provide sufficient thickness for insulation and to limit cold bridging.
We designed and built this passive energy house to ensure the owners get an outstanding performance and to surpass specified targets to achieve a home that requires little or no heat.
